Our concrete and steel shelters are engineered with flexibility in the design phase to allow for domestic or international shipments. The shelters can be concrete, steel, or include both steel and concrete construction elements in order to meet specific design requirements. For custom projects that have weight restrictions and/or secondary staging, we can engineer buildings with fork truck pockets to allow for easier logistics and reduced transportation costs.

In addition, Module X Solutions offers custom hybrid designs and solutions which incorporate a mixture of concrete and steel construction methodology. For more information on custom telecom shelter design services, get in touch with Module X Solutions today.

What Is a Telecom Shelter?

A telecom shelter protects ground-based telecommunications equipment. The structure is built from precast concrete or lightweight steel for longevity, typically offering more than 50 years of service. They protect against water, high-speed winds generated by storms, fire damage, and unauthorized access. They also protect against insects that can damage sensitive equipment and inhibit mold and mildew growth.

The modular design of a telecom shelter allows the structure to be deployed quickly in numerous locations. It easily connects to utilities and can be disassembled and transported to another site. A telecom shelter is durable and insulated from hot and cold temperatures, and upgrades are available to include smoke alarms or fire suppression equipment.

Telecom shelters typically house and protect communications equipment such as radio equipment and fiber optics, keeping networks online and communications free of interruption. They are also used to provide shelter and protection for data equipment, power systems, generators, lighting, fire suppression, cable entry, HVAC, racking, and more.

Applications of Telecom Shelters

Telecom shelters offer protection for a range of communications equipment. They are made to meet telecom industry standards and are weather-tight, secure, insulated, and durable. The shelter or enclosure typically houses the following equipment and telecom systems:

  • Data Storage
  • Battery Backup
  • Broadcast Systems
  • Instrumentation
  • Cellular Equipment
  • Public Safety Radio Equipment
  • Microwave Systems
  • Satellite Instrument House
  • Fiber Optic Systems
  • Vital UPS Equipment
  • Communications Equipment
  • Automatic or manual generator transfer switch
  • Equipment/Generator room shelter for site backup power (option available)
  • Solar panel mounts (option available)
  • Fire suppression system (option available)
